The baggage we carry
We’re all born into families and situations that we have no control over. We make do with the skills and tools we have available. The weight alone makes it hard to maneuver through life's difficulties.
As long as there is breath in the body, there is hope for better days, and even if the days don't get better, that doesn't mean the baggage we were given as children has to be ours to carry for life.
I firmly believe it's the trials in life that develop our character, but we have a choice in how we respond to them. As you've heard the quote,
“It’s not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters.” — Epictetus
And I'll end it with this:
"This day, I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live..." – Deuteronomy 30 NIV
