Originally Unoriginal…or unoriginally original?

Concept
I’m super excited about this idea that isn’t original but for me is a new or more so modified way of thinking. Nothing is original…OK. Let’s lean into that, and we can create new things through that. Through unoriginality, originality can be birthed. That’s the most hip-hop or human thing I can do. Humanity’s accomplishments are all off the backs of what’s been done before. I would argue that we rarely think beyond what we’ve seen or experienced. Of course, there are exceptions to this, but a majority of what we see in art and design has already been expressed in some way.
What does that mean for me?
It means that I’ll be going back to why I started designing and creating art. To express myself in a way that only I can. I have a viewpoint that only I have. The combination of experiences and ideas I’ve been exposed to gives me a unique lens through which to translate the world. This is what makes good art, good art. This is beyond design. This is where I believe the Michael Jackson’s, the Kobe Bryant’s, the Van Gogh's, the Kanye’s, the Wes Anderson’s go to play. They took their influences and translated them into something that they can only create. I hope this is making sense, and if not that’s OK too.
